Andy earned his Bachelor of Science in Geology from the University of Montana in the spring of 2003, and moved to Albuquerque shortly thereafter. He spent the two and a half years prior to his acceptance into the UNM E&PS Master's degree program working as a scientist for a local environmental consulting firm in Bernalillo. He began work with GIS projects related to geologic problems during his last year at the University of Montana, and recently became interested in remotely sensed data and its applications to vegetative health issues. He has decided to pursue that interest and make it a part of his graduate work at UNM/CREATE, as well as taking advantage of the excellent remote-sensing resources and data and equipment that CREATE has to offer to characterize changes in vegetative health as it relates to drought in western North America. As many people are, Andy is plagued with more interests than free time; he can be found playing guitar, hiking, camping, and biking or just enjoying New Mexico's open spaces. |
